Gold's 13 October session showed different readings across times and markets. A domestic morning report had MCX December gold and silver contracts below their previous closes. Later, international spot gold was higher as the dollar, oil and bond yields retreated, according to Reuters.
At 14:28 IST, equivalent to 08:58 GMT, Reuters reported spot gold at $4,186.91 per troy ounce, up 0.4%. US gold futures for December delivery were at $4,211.30 per ounce, up 0.5%. Spot silver was $60.4481 per ounce, up 0.2%. These are timestamped observations, not end-of-day settlements. Reuters international bullion report (opens in a new tab)
What the morning MCX report showed
Business Standard's report, updated at 11:40 IST, gave the benchmark MCX December gold contract at ₹1,49,470 per 10 grams, ₹73 below its previous close of ₹1,49,543. The contract had opened at ₹1,49,653, above that prior close, before easing in the report's observation. Dated MCX report (opens in a new tab)
Its December silver contract was quoted at ₹2,22,653 per kilogram, down ₹224 from ₹2,22,877. The report described last-traded prices at the time of writing but did not supply a separate exchange tick timestamp for those precise figures. The publication's update time is therefore the available time reference; this article does not invent a more precise one.
The source also used rounded prices in its opening summary. This report uses its exact contract-specific paragraphs, rather than mixing the rounded summary with precise previous-close comparisons. Both domestic observations belong to the morning report. They must not be presented as MCX's final 13 October closing or settlement prices.
Why the international and domestic headlines differ
The domestic gold quote is an Indian futures contract expressed in rupees per ten grams. The Reuters spot quote is an international cash-market observation expressed in US dollars per troy ounce. The Reuters December futures quote is yet another instrument. Their observation times also differ by several hours.
Those distinctions matter before drawing a conclusion about a price reversal. The readings do not calculate a like-for-like return between the morning MCX contract and later spot gold. A headline about one market falling and another rising can be accurate without proving that an identical gold instrument changed direction over the same interval.
Reuters linked the later firmer bullion reading to a softer dollar, retreating oil prices and lower bond yields. That is reported market context, not a proven mechanical rule that any one variable determines gold. Currency moves and changing interest-rate expectations can affect demand for a non-interest-bearing asset, while other influences may work in the opposite direction. Retail rates are a separate reference
Neither futures price is a jeweller's invoice. Purity, product premiums, making charges, taxes and the seller's quote basis can change the final amount. TradeGrows' national gold-rate dashboard identifies the date, source and unavailable-price flags for its manually reviewed retail references.
Readers comparing a city quote can use the Sikar rate page and cost calculator or the Jaipur gold reference. Those pages do not convert an MCX contract into a guaranteed shop quote. The commodity market overview explains the different market instruments and their risks.
Inflation releases remain in focus
Reuters identified the coming US inflation and activity releases as important events for yields and the dollar. A subsequent data release may alter market expectations, but its outcome and bullion's reaction are not known in this report. No analyst price target is treated as a confirmed future price.
For the next update, the meaningful comparison will be the same contract or spot instrument, at clearly identified times and on the same unit basis. The Indian equity cash session has ended; this bullion article remains a dated session update, not a declaration that global or MCX trading has finished.
