Kalyan Jewellers Q2 FY27 update: what ‘over 26%’ revenue growth does—and does not—say

The 7 October business update gives sales-growth, same-store and showroom data, but it is not a full quarterly earnings release. One reported showroom breakdown also needs reconciliation.

Kalyan Jewellers India Limited (NSE: KALYANKJIL; BSE: 543278) said its consolidated revenue from sale of goods, excluding bullion, grew in excess of 26% year on year in Q2 FY27—the three months ended 30 September 2026. The source is its 7 October 2026 BSE-filed quarterly update (opens in a new tab), listed by BSE as a “Company Update.” 1 (opens in a new tab) 2 (opens in a new tab)

Important status: This is provisional operating information, not a board-approved quarterly financial-results release. Kalyan says its statutory auditors are conducting a limited review, with a detailed update to follow after board approval of the September-quarter results. It gives no Q2 profit, margin, total-borrowings figure or cash-flow statement. This is general information, not personalised investment advice.

“Excluding bullion” is the company’s stated revenue measure. The percentage should not be restated as an unqualified consolidated revenue-growth figure, compared mechanically with a differently defined retail metric, or converted into an undisclosed rupee amount.

The reported Q2 figures, on the issuer’s stated basis

The following figures are company-reported comparisons with Q2 FY26, unless noted otherwise. Percentages marked “approximately” or “in excess of” retain the language of the filing.

Reported measureQ2 FY27 disclosureWhat the number covers
Consolidated revenue from sale of goods, excluding bullionIn excess of 26% YoYThe group-level sales measure specified in the update; no Q2 rupee revenue is supplied.
India operations revenueApproximately 27% YoYIndia business revenue on the update’s stated basis.
India same-store sales growthApproximately 20%Comparable-store measure, not total India revenue or group profit.
International operations revenueApproximately 18% YoYInternational business revenue.
Middle East revenueApproximately 12% YoYThe company says this was driven entirely by same-store-sales growth.
International share of consolidated revenueApproximately 11%Share in the recently concluded quarter, not a full-year mix.
Candere revenueApproximately 64% YoYThe lifestyle jewellery brand’s revenue growth.

The filing attributes India’s same-store performance to operating momentum despite what it calls a high prior-year base. It notes that all nine days of Navratri fell in Q2 during FY26. That is management context for the comparison—not proof of the cause of sales growth, and not a forecast for the festive or wedding season. 1 (opens in a new tab)

India, Candere and overseas metrics answer different questions

The approximately 27% India revenue growth is a total-business measure. The approximately 20% India same-store-sales growth is a like-for-like measure for qualifying stores. They are not interchangeable: new stores can lift total revenue while same-store growth tracks an existing-store population under the issuer’s methodology.

Candere’s approximately 64% revenue growth is brand-specific, not evidence that every Kalyan-format showroom grew at that rate. The approximately 18% international growth and approximately 12% Middle East growth are distinct geographies and should not be added to the India percentage. International markets represented approximately 11% of consolidated revenue; no absolute regional revenue is provided.

The update says Kalyan launched its first regional brand, Akshaya Thanga Maligai, in Chennai during August and plans four further franchised showrooms this financial year. These are company statements of activity and plans, not Q2 profitability, franchise economics or guidance.

The 546-showroom total needs an issuer reconciliation

Kalyan reports 546 total showrooms across India and international markets as of 30 September 2026. It separately lists 365 Kalyan India, 38 Kalyan Middle East, two Kalyan USA, two Kalyan UK and 138 Candere showrooms. 1 (opens in a new tab)

There is a presentation issue in the primary filing: those five components add to 545, while the filing declares 546. This article does not replace the stated total with calculated arithmetic, assign the difference to a geography or brand, or rely on the stated total for any growth calculation. The one-showroom difference remains unverified pending clarification or a later filing.

For quarter activity, the issuer says it launched 12 Kalyan showrooms in India (net 11), nine Candere showrooms in India, and one Kalyan showroom in the UK. “Net 11” is not 12 gross openings; the filing does not identify the closure or reclassification behind the net figure. Neither openings nor the network snapshot establishes sales productivity, store maturity or return on capital.

What limited review means for this update

The document is not labelled as unaudited financial results and contains no full statement of profit and loss. It says its metrics and other details are subject to the statutory auditors’ limited-review process, with a detailed information update to follow after results approval by the board. 1 (opens in a new tab)

The filing does not disclose Q2 consolidated profit or loss, margins, inventory, working capital, operating cash flow, earnings per share, a debt reconciliation or a balance sheet. An operating-sales update can indicate activity, but cannot settle how costs, gold-price movements, financing and inventory affected quarterly earnings.

“Zero non-GML debt” is not zero total debt

The company says “non-GML debt” came down to zero during the quarter. It also says it completed the sale of one identified non-core real-estate parcel, with value of approximately ₹86 crore, and expects to complete sale of a second parcel valued at approximately ₹16 crore in the ongoing quarter. 1 (opens in a new tab)

The debt statement is deliberately narrow. The filing does not define the abbreviation “GML,” report a total debt balance, set out gold-metal-loan balances, provide interest expense, or reconcile borrowings before and after the quarter. It would therefore be inaccurate to turn “zero non-GML debt” into a claim of zero total debt or a complete statement about leverage. The prospective second-asset sale is likewise an expectation, not confirmation of a completed transaction or a Q2 cash-flow result.

Three checks for the next disclosure

  1. Reconcile the network count. Check whether Kalyan corrects or explains why the reported total is 546 while the listed components total 545, and whether a store was omitted from a category.
  2. Read the completed financial results on their own basis. Confirm the limited-review conclusion, revenue reconciliation, profitability, margins, inventory, borrowings and cash-flow data when the board-approved September-quarter results are filed. Do not backfill those figures into the 7 October update.
  3. Keep comparable measures separate. Check the stated denominator and period for India same-store sales, the revenue basis excluding bullion, Candere and international metrics, and any revised store additions or closures. A percentage from one series is not automatically comparable with another.
